The Bears travelled to Runcorn Town with a change in personell both on and off the pitch. New manager Jim Vince had brought in former Bear Andy Alston as team captain, forward Mike Koral and midfielder Joe Guest. On the bench were Dan Schwartz and Geoff Basford.
The new Bears line-up took time to settle and they fell behind after just 9 minutes when Jason Carey put the home side one up. The Bears then started to play a more structured game and new boy Koral opened his account and brought the visitors level after some great play on 27 minutes.
Runcorn were back in front just five minutres later. A free kick taken by Bellew to the back post where Dalton headed home : 2-1.
Both sides had further chances in the first half, but no further goals.
The Bears made two subsitutions at half time, with Dan Schwartz and Geoff Basford replacing Keith Wedge and Ryan Dunnan.
The Bears started the second half in much more confident mood and created several half chances. The final sub was made on60 minutes, with Joe Wooliscrodt replacing Chris Middleton.
On 67 minutes the Bears were level and it was Mike Koral again finding the back of the net.
Lots of Bears pressure now followed but they could not find that final touch. Calamity on 79 minutes. Bellow was played into space and his cross was badly handled by Woodhouse, leaving Emini Adegbenro with an easy tap in.
The Bears dominated the remaining minutes but the equaliser would not come and a much improved performance came with no reward.
